The Indian Soldier
Full of enthusiasm,
Full of courage;
With a feeling for India,
His religion is Indian-ism.
Unlike any other,
American, Spanish or European,
It is the heart of and Indian,
Which considers India as his mother.
His holi is his martyrdom,
With colour in form of blood.
His gun is his cracker in Diwali,
He hugs his death in his Id.
He has no mother except India,
He has no brother except Indians;
His home, is his military camp,
His heart beats only for India.
Overflowing with courage,
Filled with eternal strength,
Ready to marry his death,
Filling the history page by page.
There are still words left for him which,
Neither my speech nor my strength can bring out,
For his patriotism and his courage rich,
I salute the Indian Soldier and feel proud.
